How to metabolize bad events into growth boosts

15/1/23

Happy Sunday everyone!

Consistency and discipline are key. It’s the reason why people thrive in creating content while others fade and lose their will of creating. It’s what differentiates the best from the good. You need discipline in everything you do. Motivation isn’t enough, practicing discipline will allow you to do things and carry on.

It’s 3 AM as I’m writing this newsletter, I had a blast tonight, hanging out with friends but I didn’t write the newsletter and I had it on my To-Do list for today. So here I am, in my dark room, with the window open, in my pajamas, writing this newsletter knowing that I won’t have time to do it tomorrow.

I hope you are in a great mood today, enjoy your reading!

Grow your mindset: How to metabolize bad events into growth boosts

Bad events, sad situations and accidents are part of our lives, we can’t avoid them.

Sometimes we are just unlucky, other times something we’ve planned didn’t work out and some other times we just weren’t prepared for what was about to happen. One thing is certain, obstacles and difficulties will come our way no matter what, the question is how can I minimize the damage and maximize the gains of these events?

Something that helps me a lot in dealing with challenges and struggles is this skill that I’ve developed called ”Metabolizing bad events into growth boosts”. It’s essential to understand that we can not change the past or decide how others will treat us.

The only two things we can control are our actions and our perception.

To give you an example, a couple of years ago, I used to trade in-game assets. I was doing really well and I had 10x my initial investment. That for me was really good money at the time, but all that would change when I got hacked and lost everything. I remember I was furious, how could a techy savvy guy like me could get hacked like that? Well, no one is perfect.

So, I was in a position where all my progress was erased and couldn’t get my assets back. I was in a dilemma, I could sit there and cry about it or start finding ways to get back to where I was. Luckily I chose the second one.

That was a tiny example of that mindset, which you can implement in every challenge you face, from losing your job to breaking up with your partner to losing a family member. At every single point of your life, you have a decision to make and an amount of data. The more clarity you have when making a decision, the higher the chances of choosing the best move. The better your moves, the happier your life.

At the end of the day, it all comes down to how you view the world. You can choose to either allow your emotions to get control of your life, or stand up, analyze the room and take the best decision possible.

Twitter Growth: How to write eye-catching threads

This week, I had massive success with one of my threads, which got over 600,000 views and 2,500 likes. For two months, I wrote a thread every day. This challenge taught me many lessons about writing threads and writing with authority. Here’s my formula for a successful thread:

Powerful Hook

The first tweet is the cover of your thread. It will help the reader decide whether your thread is worth reading or not. 90% of your success depends on the hook. With that said, you need a powerful hook in order to succeed.

So how can I write one?

Firstly, you need to catch people’s attention. You can do that by making a bold statement or mentioning a fact. In my case, it was sharing the news. Then, you need to explain to people why they should care about it, what’s their benefit, and basically why they should continue reading.

It’s not easy to write powerful hooks, personally, I spend 50% of my time composing the first tweet.

Keep it simple

We are living in a world where speed matters. Everyone wants to get informed and entertained as fast as possible. Based on a study, 40% of teenagers these days, can’t sit down and watch a 2-hour movie, because it’s too long.

It’s important to make the reader continue reading. In order to do so, keep your threads short and sweet, and avoid complicated sentences that are too long. Use bullet points to help the reader remember what this thread is all about. Lastly, you can use questions to connect tweets with each other.

Motivate people to take action

Writing is not only about information, it’s also about emotions. You need to motivate readers to take action. This way, your thread will feel much more engaging and interactive. You can dedicate tweets with “take action“ points that will inspire the reader to start working on something new, build a habit or fix a mistake.

Your last tweet matters too. Make a recap of your thread and remind your readers why everything you just wrote is important. You’ve already given your time and energy to make an impact, feel comfortable asking them for a follow, a like, or a share.

If you are considering to start writing threads, don’t wait any longer. Get on your computer, open notes and start writing about something you love. The best moment to start was years ago, the second best moment is now.

NFT News Report

Yuga Labs announced an upcoming mint

Yuga Labs announced the release of a skill-based mint gaming experience “Dookey Dash“ where users will be rewarded based on their performance.

BAYC and MAYC holders will be eligible to claim Sewer Pass on Jan 17, the pass that gives access to the game. If you aren’t eligible, you’ll be able to get one off the secondary market and test your in-game skills.

I’ve dedicated a thread explaining everything here.

Polygon paid Y00ts and DeGods 3M to migrate Chains

Last Friday Frank, the founder of DeLabs announced that they received a 3 million non-equity grant from Polygon to help fund the migration from Solana.

This announcement signaled another win for Polygon, which has successfully onboarded several mainstream brands such as Starbucks, Nike, Reddit, Instagram, and DraftKings.

Personally, I feel that this move might make Polygon more likable to the native NFT community and we might see many projects choose Polygon to mint their collections. This might start a mini hype for Polygon.

NFT GOD got hacked

NFT God got hacked this week. Based on his latest thread about the incident, we know that he downloaded malicious software that made him lose everything. His google, Twitter, wallets, all social media, and substack were all hacked cause of a malicious link.

It’s unfortunate and painful to see something like that, but it’s also a great lesson for all of us to be more cautious with our digital activity. To all of you out there, please double-check before you click a link, use cold wallets, and save your keys on a piece of paper. I’ll dedicate a thread next week to digital security, so stay tuned.
